Amina Mohamed, former foreign minister, welcomes the visit of President Klaus Iohannis to Kenya

Full statement: ”I salute the historic visit of His Excellency Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania, to Kenya!

Romania is a longtime friend of our country and a strategic partner. The collaboration between our two nations is about to intensify and become stronger, due to recent common commitments of our President, His Excellency William Ruto, and His Excellency Mr. Klaus Iohannis.

The cooperation between Romania and Kenya in fields such as environmental protection, civil protection, education, digitization and green energy will strengthen our partnership and will bring benefits for both our nations, positioning Kenya as a powerful actor in Eastern Africa.

I have good friends and business partners from Romania and I more than happy to see how our countries are finding common ground for more strategic partnerships and business collaborations”.

With a law degree and studies from Oxford, Amina Mohamed has an impressive career in administration and politics, including as foreign minister, education minister and representative to the United Nations.

Amina Mohamed is one of the most influential politicians in Kenya and on the African continent, part of a new generation of leaders, with an open vision towards the West, a close relationship with the United States of America and a strong involvement in promoting women and children’s rights.

Through the foundation that bears her name, Amina Mohamed initiated programs that support women, youth and children and provide them access to education and work opportunities.
